Fun With Power Tools

Posted on Sep 8, 2013

Feeling the power in power tool today!  Working alongside Tommy was pretty darn cool.  He routed wood for a built-in wall unit he is working on while I cut branches into blocks of various sizes.  These lovely branches traveled all the way from Ohio.
Building with tree branch blocks is a great way to bring nature inside!

Garden Prep

Posted on Aug 27, 2013
There has been a very slight, but noticeable, change in the weather this week so I got the itch to get out in our garden.  I did not tend to our garden very much this summer and let the weeds take over and relied on the rain for watering.  Needless to say, only the strong survived!

We have 3 raised beds that were all built by Tommy over the years.  I asked Sophia and Kevin if they would like their own garden box this planting season and they enthusiastically said yes!  We started out with weeding the unruly beds.  Even though they were full of weeds, we managed to keep a few peppers plants, chives, several herbs, a tomato plant, and a raspberry bush.

Next up is prepping the soil and letting the kids pick out what they would like to plant!

Welcome to the 1st official blog post for The Sandy Path!  I have named it Our Sandy Path because I plan to share bits and pieces of our creative and crafty life here as well as news and updates about The Sandy Path.  We are a DIY family and always seem to be working on a project for our home, our children, ourselves, or for pure fun.  We definitely love the process just as much as the product and really enjoy the opportunity to create with our own hands.

I thought I would share a couple of photos sent to me of our sailboats in action.  Our etsy shop has been open for a couple of months now so these boats are starting to travel all over the country.  Bon voyage!
